Does The Lord’s Prayer Defend Daily Sinning ?

‘I can’t stand it when people use The Lord’s Prayer as an argument against holy living. They say, “Jesus taught us to ask for forgiveness every day when we pray, therefore we have to sin every day and can’t stop.”

I think the emphasis of, “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” is on the fact that being forgiven is conditional upon forgiving others, to daily remind us that we only remain forgiven so long as we are forgiving others. It doesn’t mean that you have to commit sin every day. That is twisting the Scriptures and practicing eisegesis.
It is also important to note that if we have to ask for forgiveness when we sin, this implies that we are not already forgiven. The idea that God forgives you of all your past, present, and future sins all at once is therefore false. Sins have to be repented of and forgiven as they occur.
But remember the Lords prayer also says, “and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.”
Don’t use the Lord’s prayer, which is a prayer for holy living, as a justification or defense for daily sinning.’
